The problem
Most people want to recycle but don't know which bin to use or where the nearest recycling center is. Incorrect sorting contaminates entire batches, and city-specific rules make it even harder.
What I built
Users can search for any waste item or snap a photo and let Google Gemini AI identify it. The app returns disposal instructions tailored to their city, shows nearby recycling centers, and categorizes waste types with clear sorting guidance. It also features dark mode and a fully responsive layout.
Outcome
Used by 40 classmates to simplify waste sorting during a campus sustainability drive. The AI image detection reduced mis-sorted waste by giving instant, location-aware disposal instructions.
